Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Arya.
Phonics: Today the students were introduced to the "Ii" sound, action and song. Together we brainstormed a list of "Ii" words. We also created the letter "Ii" with our play dough.
Journal: With today being the first day of Fall, the student wrote in their journals: "I like fall because...." It was great to see all the students answers and attempts of trying to sound out the words on their own. They all did a fantastic job! Take a look at a few:

Math: Today we reviewed counting to 10 and the correct way to print the numbers. Today we reviewed how to count backwards from 10-0. The students completed a worksheet placing the numbers in the correct order.
Lunch/ Recess 1

Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed our 5 senses. Students together listed the 5 senses and we matched the sense to the correct word on the board. We continued our focus is on Sight. Today we discussed how their are some people who are unable to see (blind), some people who wear glasses and some people who have perfect vision. Today we focused on what it means to be blind. Students learned that people who are blind read differently then we do. They use something called Braille. The students created their own braille with their pencil. Take a look:

Pack Up
Daily 5: Today we continued with the Daily 5 process. We are now getting into the swing of how Daily 5 is working and the students really seem to love this part of the day!

Reminders:
- Students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.
- Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.
- Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda.
