Day 6

Hello everyone,

Take a look at our day:

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Nathan. 
Phonics: Today the students were introduced to  the "Aa" sound, action and song. The students learned that the letter is is special because it is a vowel. Together we brainstormed a list of "Aa" words. We also created the letter "Aa" with our play dough.
Journal:  The students wrote in their journal "Three words that begin with the letter "Ss" are: 1. _____, 2. ______ and 3. ________"

Math: Today we discussed what a teen number was and that every teen number begins with 1. Together we practiced our numbers and the proper way to write them. 
Lunch/ Recess 1 
French: Please see Mlle. Hou's blog for more information. 
Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed our 5 senses. Students together listed the 5 senses and we matched the sense to the correct word on the board. We read a five senses story book and discussed the ways in which the characters used their 5 senses. 

Just before recess, the students did some independent reading and I pulled a few students to read to me. This is to begin their reading assessment. This will help me understand your child's reading level and will make the snuggle up and read books that have been sent home at their correct reading level.

Pack Up 
Daily 5:  Today we began the Daily 5 process. The students really enjoyed the start of this. I am hoping tomorrow we will pack up faster and have more time for these activities.

Agendas 

Week of September 14^th- 18^th

-       October lunch forms are due Friday, September 25^th – No late forms will be accepted. – The forms will go home tomorrow (Tuesday, September 15).

-       On September 17^th, from 4-7pm, SJA will be holding a Welcome BBQ for all families to attend. Pre-order forms for food have been sent home. Please return to school by September 15

-       Just a reminder, students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

-       Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

-       Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda. 

-       Snuggle up and Read – due Friday 

-       Jolly Jingles – “Ss” and “Aa” are due Friday

-       Friday Show and share students: Tayler (Ss), Hunter (Ss), Gabriella (Aa), Makaela (Aa) 

             Please bring in something that begins with the letter beside your name. 

-       Words of the Week due Friday.
