Day 10

Good afternoon,

Take a look at our day in SK!

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Raiyan.
Phonics: Today the students continued to work on Jolly Phonics. We review the sound, action and song for the letter "Tt"! The students also completed a worksheet practicing the correct way to print the letter "Tt" and they identified words with the "Tt" sound.

Journal: For journal today, students wrote three words that begin with the letter "Tt". Everyone did a terrific job coming up with the three words.

Library- Today was the first day the students had the chance to go to the library. All the students had the chance to sign out a library book. These books will stay in our classroom to be used during silent reading and Daily 5 time.

Math: Today the students continued to practicing printing numbers 1-10. We also did some one to one correspondence counting and identifying the correct quantify of the pictures given. We are getting much better at printing our numbers. :)

Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed the 5 senses. We continued to talk about sight. Students listened to a story about sight and then drew 4 things they can see. The students did a terrific job drawing and labeling their pictures of what they can see.

Reminders:

- Students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

- Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

- Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda.

Action

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size! Please check out our Action board in our classroom to see all our fabulous learners.
