Thursday!

Hello everyone,

Thank you for reading my blog again. I am sorry about the lack of pictures this week, I have misplaced my camera in the move. I hope to find it this weekend. Thank you for understanding.

Today we began the day with french. After french we completed our agendas and calendar routine. For Jolly Phonics today, we reviewed the sound, action and song for the "ar" sound. Then we had show and share. Thank you to those students who brought something in, they were very creative items. :)
After Jolly Phonics, we read a story called Bear Wants More. The students put the story into order and then answered some comprehension questions about the story.
Just before our first break, the students wrote what their favourite part of the story was.
When we returned from recess, we listened to Bear Wants More again and then for art today, the students used construction paper to create the scene of their favourite part. I am so impressed these were really well done :)
Just before our second break, the students headed to the gym with Mr. Browning.
When we returned from second break, we packed up to go home and practiced for Arts Night with Ms. Chang's class.

Hello everyone,

Today we began the day with french and music. When we returned to class the students completed a journal entry about their year. They wrote about their favourite thing to do in Senior Kindergarten. One thing they learned and one thing they were going to miss. This was really well done. After our agendas and calendar routine we moved on to Jolly Phonics. For Jolly Phonics today, we continued to learn about the "ar" sound. We reviewed the sound, action and song. Then we completed a worksheet matching words to this sound.
Just before our first break the students completed a few pages in their letters and sounds books.
After recess, we read a story together as a class. Then we discussed the Science Fair. We went over the scientific method together and completed the purpose, materials and hypothesis together as a class. The students then wrote these things in their Science Fair Journal.
For math today, the students completed a few pages in their math ABeka books.
Just before recess, Ms. Chang's class came in to practice for Arts Night.
When we returned from our second break, we packed up to go home, read a story together, practiced for the spelling bee and then headed to the gym with Mr. Browning.

Hello,

Today we began the day with french. After french the students completed their agendas and calendar routine. For our journal today, the students listened to a story and retold the main events. During this time we also made prediction about what was going to happen next in the story. The students did a terrific job at these two tasks today :). For Jolly Phonics, we reviewed our sound, action and song for "ar." Then together as a class we brainstormed a list of words that have this sound. Our list of words was huge! :)
Just before our first break, we practiced for Art's night with Ms. Chang's class.
After our first break, Sophia read a story to the class. She did a terrific job. :) We all have made huge improvements in our reading. Today I tested most of the students and everyone has gone up a level or two. I am really proud of all the students for working so hard. :)
For math today, we worked on a few pages in our ABeka books.
When we returned from our second break, we packed up to go home, practiced our spelling words, Jayden and Leon read a story to the class and then we headed to the gym with Mr. Browning.

I hope you all had a terrific weekend! :)

Today we began the day with french and music. When we returned to class we wrote in our journal about our weekend. After our calendar and agenda routine, we moved onto Jolly Phonics, the students were introduce to the sound "ar." This is our last Jolly Phonics sound. We learned the sound, action and song, then we completed a worksheet identifying words with this sound.
After our first break, we read a story together. We then discussed what our experiment is going to be for our science fair project. We learned about the words "hypothesis" and "prediction." The students predicted what was going to happen to a gummy bear when it is left in water overnight. We then created a graph using their predictions. We will continue with our science fair project throughout the week.
For math today, we continued to learn about measurement. Today we measured items around the classroom using blocks. The students made predictions of how many blocked they thought the items would be and then they measure to see if they were correct. This activity was a lot of fun! :)
When we returned from our second break, we packed up to go home, practiced for Arts Night and then headed to the gym with Mr. Browning.

French Cafe!

Hello everyone,

Today we began the day practicing for the french cafe. When we returned we read a mother's day story together. Then we completed our agendas and calendar routine. For our journal today the students wrote about how they are feeling about going on stage and presenting their song to you for the French Cafe. They are all very excited and their costumes look great!
Just before our first break, we packed up to go home played around the world with addition and subtraction questions - the last few students standing were Julian, Jayden, Sophia, Bianca, Cassidy, Matthew and Anastasia. Great job everyone - we are math machines :)
After lunch we presented for the french cafe. :)

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a great night!

Today we began the day with our calendar and agenda routine. For our journal entry today, the students were given a number and were asked to come up with as many addition/ subtraction questions they could think of. For example the answer was 9. The students wrote 9+0= 9. We came up with a long list of questions for the answer being 9. I was very impressed. Then we reviewed our Jolly Jingles, practicing the sound "er."Bianca read a story to the class just before we completed our Math Assessment.
After our first break, we headed to the gym for a dress rehearsal for the french cafe tomorrow. The students did a great job! They are excited to show you tomorrow! :) **** Please come dressed in your costume**** Thank you :)
When we returned from our second break, we packed up to go home and headed the gym with Mr. Browning.
