Day 3

Congratulations! We have made it through the first week of school! I hope everyone had a fantastic week!

Today we began the day with agendas and journal. In our journal we wrote about the house colour we were wearing! I was so happy to see that everyone participated in our spirit day! :) The students did a terrific job sounding out the colour of their house.
After journal we completed our calendar routine led by Gabriella.
The students then headed to art with Ms. Kerr - Please see Ms. Kerr's blog for more information.
When we returned from art, we finished up the first section of our math assessment from yesterday and we began the second part of the assessment. We will finish this up on Monday.
After our first break, students headed to french with Mlle. Hou - Please see her blog for more information.
When we returned from class, students listened to a story called "We are in a Book" and then completed a language letter assessment. This was to help me understand their letter printing and recognition.
After our second break, students headed to gym with Ms. Lovan. Please see her blog for more information. We then packed up to go home and completed our behaviour chart. Students were to let me know whether they think they behaved well this week and if they deserved a sticker and why. ALL students received a sticker this week! They are encouraged to come back next week with even better behaviour!

Action

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size! Please check out our Action board in our classroom to see all our fabulous learners.
