Day 31

Happy Friday!

Take a look at our day.

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Lennard.

Lexi and Nathan read the morning message today. Great job!

Phonics: Today the students continued to work on Jolly Phonics. We review the sound, action and song for the letter "Mm" and "Dd"! Today we had show and share. Thank you to the students who brought something in.

Journal: During journal today, the students completed their post-OWA (Writing Assessment), the results will go home in the form of a graph with the report cards. Everyone improved tremendously since the first one we did in September.

Math: Today we reviewed patterns. We talked about the different types of patterns and completed some together. We reviewed ABCD patterns and completed a spider worksheet creating our own ABCD patterns.

Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed the 5 senses. We created Mr. Potato Head and labelled him with his senses.

Pack Up
Daily 5: At the end of the day today, we sang some Halloween songs and we listened to a Halloween story.

Action

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size! Please check out our Action board in our classroom to see all our fabulous learners.
