Day 24

Hello everyone, 


Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Gabby. 
Phonics: Today the students were introduced to  the "Rr" sound, action and song.  Together we brainstormed a list of "Rr" words. We also created the letter "Rr" with our play dough.
Journal:  Today during journal time, the students wrote: Three words that begin with the letter "Rr" are:  - I am amazed how far they have come in their writing. I am very proud of all the students.

Math: Today the students reviewed patterning. Students reviewed that a pattern always REPEATS and every pattern has a core (the part that repeats). Together we talked about different types of patterns; colour, shape and big/small patterns. We made a few of each kind together and then the students created one on their own in their journals. 
Lunch/ Recess 1

Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed our 5 senses. Students together listed the 5 senses and we matched the sense to the correct word on the board. Today we we discussed the sense of touch. We talked about a variety of textures we feel with our hands. Hard, soft, rough, bumpy and smooth.  The students completed a texture hand with all of the different textures. Take a look:

Pack Up 
Daily 5:  Today we continued with the Daily 5 process. The students love this part of the day. :)

Reminders:

-       Students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

-       Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

-       Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda.
