Day 29

Hello everyone, 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the casual day today. Your donations are much appreciated.

Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Marcus. 
Phonics: Today the students were introduced to  the "Dd" sound, action and song.  Together we brainstormed a list of "Dd" words. We also created the letter "Dd" with our play dough.
Journal:  Today during journal time, the students wrote two sentences using their spelling words. 

Art:  Please see Ms. Kerr's blog for more information. 
Math: Today the students reviewed patterning. Students reviewed that a pattern always REPEATS and every pattern has a core (the part that repeats). Together we talked about different types of patterns; colour, shape and big/small patterns. We reviewed AB patterns and ABC patterns. We then completed a worksheet together finishing the patterns. 

Lunch/ Recess 1

Unit of Inquiry:Today the students reviewed our 5 senses. Students together listed the 5 senses and we matched the sense to the correct word on the board. Today the students started their summative project for the unit. Please look for more information on this in your child's agenda on FRIDAY. 
The students are writing about the things they saw, smelt, tasted, felt and heard during their summer vacation.

Pack Up 
Daily 5:  Today we continued with the Daily 5 process. The students love this part of the day. :)

Reminders: 

-       Students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

-       Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

-       Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda.
